A dazzling U.S. McCraw Family Association Reunion awaits us June 26-28, 2020 in Fairhope, Alabama, where five rivers converge on the beautiful Gulf Coast. Phyllis Ledine, 2020 Reunion host, is preparing for McCraws from across the United States to enjoy Reunion events that explore genealogy and family history and present results of ongoing research. Our base for our meetings will be the Holiday Inn Express in Fairhope. Subject matter will include the McCraw family in Colonial America, and a talk, “Who’s Your Daddy’s Daddy?” by an area genealogist. DNA Coordinator Tim McCraw will present the latest genetic findings, and USMFA member, Steven McGraw, will be recognized as the recipient of the 2019 Medal of Echthighern, awarded by the International McGrath Clan Association/McGrath Clan of Thomond, Ireland.
"Apart from the fun of seeing family members again—or meeting them for the first time—and learning about McCraw history and genealogy, Fairhope has plenty to offer during your visit,” Phyllis says. For those who arrive on Thursday, an optional group dinner is planned at McSharry's Irish pub, downtown. This family-friendly restaurant offers great food and an enjoyable atmosphere. On Friday, those who wish, will meet at The Pier Bar and Grill overlooking Mobile Bay. If you plan to attend either or both, please email Phyllis at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Saturday evening banquet, always a Reunion high point, will be catered in the Seaside Room at the Holiday Inn Express. “Entertainment during the banquet is still in the planning stages, but we hope to have a local group of musicians entertain us with Irish jigs and ballads," Phyllis says. Reunions build lasting friendships among McCraws, and new members, who often bring McCraw genealogy puzzles that need solving, Inquiries like these are always heartily welcomed.
If you aren't a member, this is the time to join! If you are a member and haven't attended in a while, we'd love for you to come! Please help us make the 2020 McCraw Reunion the best one yet! Plan A Vacation Around Our 2020 McCraw Reunion!
Make the 2020 McCraw Reunion a springboard to a great vacation on the Alabama Coast. Southern Living magazine is enthusiastic about the locale: “There are few places more scenic, with antebellum homes, streets lined with live oaks, and a charming, walkable downtown. With a population of about 17,000, Fairhope sits on bluffs that overlook Mobile Bay, so you’re never far from a view of the water. It [features] a laid-back vibe that lowers your blood pressure….”
What should you see and do around the area? The beautiful beaches of the Gulf are attraction enough. There’s also Spanish Fort, about 30 minutes to the north. It offers two state parks and the 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center, a science and nature center dedicated to the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee and Blakeley rivers that all flow into Mobile Bay. Just across the bridge from Spanish Fort is Mobile, a cultural center that boasts art museums, a symphony orchestra, plus opera and ballet companies. Historic architecture abounds. In Mobile, long a center for naval and ship-building, you can tour the USS Alabama. Check out the links below to learn more about Fairhope and all the Alabama Coast has to offer!
